One Flight

The hawk is my spirit animal. I love hawks and watch for them all the time. On this mural, five different versions coexisting together on one canvas represent hawks from different times and cultures. One is inspired by a Chinese artist; two are contemporary; another from my own native American heritage and finally my own unique style and approach. It speaks to both uniqueness and similarity of people and cultures transcending time. It is also about family taking care of each other. In Native American culture, the hawk is the one who watches over. It flies above, sees what is going on and looks ahead. It is a guiding force and guardian.

 Escondido is for artists.
