Sophia Pappas
Stop and Smell the Roses

My painting represents the Grim Reaper on his way to collect souls. As he does so he is struck by the beauty around him and stops to admire it.

On a deeper level, the painting really is to remind me to stop and smell the roses; to appreciate the beauty in the little things, especially in the seasons of our lives when it seems like there is only darkness and “grim-ness”.

I hope when people look at this painting, they are reminded that there is beauty in every moment and situation, sometimes you just need to slow down and appreciate it.

 Escondido is for artists.
