2025 Call For Artists
Apply for the Esco Alley Art Escondido Creek Trail Mural Project
The City of Escondido is undertaking a project to revitalize the Escondido Creek corridor running through the city with new hiking and biking trails. Part of the project is to improve the appearance of the area through artistic design elements. This, among others, means to beautify buildings along the trail. One building owned by Neighborhood Healthcare faces the creek and presents an opportunity to display topical murals. Neighborhood Healthcare has agreed to have murals displayed on their building.
ESCO ALLEY ART is a volunteer group established to create publicly available, easily accessible outdoor art galleries. Working under the auspices of the Escondido Downtown Business Association, the group brings together artists, building owners, and related businesses needed to generate these art galleries. The group arranges financial support through grants and individual donations.
ESCO ALLEY ART has revealed a plan to create six murals, each measuring 15 by 10 feet, to be displayed on the building owned by Neighborhood Healthcare. The production method will be identical to that employed for the “Community Unity” mural presently displayed in the alley south of Grand Avenue between Broadway and Maple Street. Funds to realize the project has been granted by the Escondido Public Art Commission.
