Wildlife in the Poppies by Joanne Sullivan
Joanne Sullivan
Wildlife in the Poppies

Joanne’s creative journey spans many mediums, ultimately leading her to Chinese brush painting, where she found her passion in its simplicity and expressive power. Through dedicated practice, she mastered the nuances of brushwork and ink gradation, shaping a signature style rooted in spontaneity and vitality.

Her mural Wildlife in the Poppies is an acrylic work that celebrates the local landscape through the California poppy, the state flower, and the California quail, the state bird, alongside other native wildlife. The poppies symbolize resilience, thriving in harsh, dry conditions, while the quail represents adaptability, community, and family.

This mural is a snapshot of local flora and fauna coexisting in harmony—an invitation to pause and appreciate the natural beauty that surrounds us.
