Mural Mosaic’s Global Roots Project is proud to announce our collaboration with Esco Alley Art in Escondido, California where the America Connects West Mural will be installed on Sunday, March 26th, 2023.
America Connects West Regional Mural Mosaic is a work of art showcasing the creativity of more than 1500 participants from America’s Western States, as well as paintings from participants throughout North America who chose to paint a tile in this mosaic. Each participant has contributed their own unique design to create a vibrant and colorful mural that celebrates their connections to the West. The America Connects West Regional Mural is a testament to the power of connection, collaboration, and creativity.
Since 2003, Mural Mosaic has been creating art that celebrates unity and diversity through awe inspiring mosaic productions. Using the Mural Mosaic process invented by artist Lewis Lavoie, the mission of our work is to bring people together in a way that honors everyone’s unique perspectives and experiences. We have produced Mural Mosaics throughout North America, inspiring viewers to recognize the beauty of our differences and come together in united work of art.
Mural Mosaic’s Global Roots Project is delighted to become part of the Escondido community, to have the opportunity to inspire artists and aspiring artists of the future with this remarkable mural. We hope that it will serve as a source of inspiration for those who view it, and that it will encourage them to explore their creative potential.
“We are beyond excited to have been chosen as the recipient of the America Connects West Regional mural.
Esco Alley Art’s murals are a gift to the community from the Escondido Downtown Business Association, supported by grants, donations and volunteers. We believe that public art is vital to a vibrant and healthy community, and that art should be for all and by all. Our team brings together artists and property owners to repurpose downtown Escondido’s working alleys (forgotten spaces) into vibrant and unexpected outdoor art galleries.
The Global Roots mural expands our vision in a new location and a new medium. The mural’s location next to Maple Street Plaza will be visible from westbound traffic on Escondido’s iconic Grand Avenue. The mural’s mosaic medium of individual 6 x 6 tiles has allowed for the involvement of artists from ages 7 to 97, including mural artists, committee members, local business owners, family members, and friends.
As we unveil this exciting new edition of Esco Alley Art, we would like to thank John Paul Catholic University for providing an appropriate and highly appreciated home for the America Connects Western Regional Mural.” Carol Rogers, Escondido Downtown Business Association
Mural Mosaic’s Global Roots is a unique initiative that aims to bring people from around the world together through the power of art. Each collaborative Mural Mosaic production invites people from communities everywhere to connect and celebrate their unity through their diverse expressions of art. With each tile placed in a mural, Global Roots is reconnecting the world through the joy of art – one tile, one mural mosaic, one country at a time.
The Global Roots Project and installation of the America Connects West Regional Mural is funded entirely by its participants including the production and donation of the physical mural to Esco Alley Art.
