As an artist, most of my paintings are a reflection of myself, who I am, and the message I want to convey. When trying to come up with the design for this season’s mural, I knew I wanted to do the same…to convey a message. After a few sketches and several ideas, the same thought kept coming to mind…Love and relationships. My painting process typically begins with laying down the intention for the painting, either by random marks of color, words, or scripture. This is no different. Earlier this year, while working on another piece, I wrote a poem that I incorporated into the painting I was working on. That painting ultimately found its forever home. Touched by how my poem was received, I wanted to share it with all of you. So I thought let’s incorporate the poem into the creation of the mural. The romantic in me hopes that this can be a destination painting. I hope that those who see it can be reminded of their love for one another, what brought them together, inspire new and renewed love, and maybe even be the site for proposals. But most importantly, the message I want to communicate is that we can learn, create, write new stories, and unlock the mysteries of the world Two-gether. We can exist alone, but we are so much better Two-gether.
