A Collaboration Project between painter Emily McMullan @practices_in_art and photographer Manny Lopez @mannysd. This piece was inspired by the photography and family lineage of San Diego based photographer, Manny Lopez. His imagery and captures of Dia de los Muertos are translated into this mural panel which unites generations of a family; those here on Earth with those who have passed. Their reunification is a celebration. It’s joy filled and loving. It’s filled with wonder and beauty. Universally, this mural panel explores the concepts of needing to be seen and loved, for who you are. My hope is that you, as the viewer of this piece, are able to feel the warmth and vibrancy come through, offering you the feeling of being both seen and loved…just as you are. My art practice is dedicated to honoring the wonder and awe within all of us. It is an honor to dedicate my work to the individuals and collective community of Escondido and beyond. With Gratitude, Emily
