“A lot of what I do is landscapes and seascapes. I wanted to find something to visually touch the individual in seeing it. In an alley I wanted it not to be a lot of detail but striking. What you will see is this bay that has a remarkable cloud formation with a sunset.
I think about the relationships of shapes and colors. That is what grabs me. Whether it is out of my imagination or something that is a rendering like a plein air, I examine it as they work together.
We have always lived near and enjoyed the ocean. We are drawn to it.
Where I live up in Hidden Meadows, we have a view to the ocean. We see sunsets that are incredibly beautiful especially at certain times of the year. When those colors hit the horizon, it takes my breath away.
With my work, I want to put people in a happy spot. I want them to experience joy and to really enjoy it.”
Robert Henri, a great Artist, Instructor and Art Philosopher said it best, “Art cannot be separated from life. It is the expression of the greatest need of which life is capable, and we value art not because of the skilled product, but because of its revelation of a life’s experience.”
